Coming soon! Anempathetic music

Currently for your reading please, I have posted my first article, a review of King Krule´s 2022 album, Space Heavy.

While searching for my next topic of discussion, I had a brief conversation about the scope of my articles, where I could take them. As it should be obvious to many of you now, I adore films. As if I haven´t made this obvious through the copious film reviews I have already posted on this blog... yet, I digress.

My lecturer suggested to me that I merge my love of film and music together and write an article on anempathetic music. If you haven´t ever heard of the term or have no clue what it is about, don´t worry. It is not a very well known term and in actual fact is still pretty recent in terms of it acknowledgement in both cinema and music scores.

In the simplest of terms, anemapthetic music is where a happy song is played alongside a sad scene. The only way I stumbled across this term was when searching for any ideas for my final dissertation. Fascinated by this, I decided to delve deeper into the subject and I am so glad I did.

So there we have it, something to wet the appetite. Look out for my new article In Search for Emotion: Understanding Anempathetic Music, under the articles section in the menu.
